Studio della gestione integrata dei rifiuti urbani nell'ambito della provincia di Bologna

This work is an analysis of integrated urban waste management in the province of Bologna. It consists of five chapters and one enclosure. Primarily, it focuses on the legislative framework at european, national and local level. Then the study analyses the situation of urban waste system adopted in the reference territory from 2003 to 2007 to show its evolution process. Chapter 3 is based on considerations about the percentage of effective recover of materials derived from separate collection that has been reached in the province of Bologna in 2006. The following chapter describes the urban waste management at national level using dates of 2005 and 2006 by APAT (National Agency for environmental protection). Then, it has been made a comparison with Emilia-Romagna and district of Bologna. Chapter 5 focuses on the description of innovative strategies introduced in the district of Bologna to increase separate collection level and optimize waste management. In particular, it analyses two sperimental projects: one based on door to door collection and the other founded on an integrated collection system which provides the application of two collection models (door to door collection in industrial areas and collection by containers in urban ones). Finally, in the enclosure, it is also descrided best practices of waste management sector about collection models, treatment plants and innovative strategies available at that moment in Europe.

The central space was created on assumptions of a constructive character, and the same exact reason has determined the structural changes over the centuries, calling from time to time with advances in technology, the maximum extent possible and the different applications, which almost always have coincided with the reason for the monumental space. But it’s in the Roman world that the reason for the central space is defined from the start of a series of achievements that fix the character in perpetuity. The reconstruction of the birth, evolution and development of the central space of the ground in Libera, was born on the study of the monuments of ancient Rome, intersected on fifty years of recent history, honed on the constancy of a method and practice of a lifetime, becomes itself, Therefore, a project, employing the same mechanisms adopted by Libera; the decomposition and recomposition, research synthesis and unity of form, are in fact the structure of this research work. The road taken by Libera is a lesson in clarity and rationality, above all, and this work would uncover at least a fragment.

Co-simulazione e co-progetto non lineare/elettromagnetico di sistemi wireless non convenzionali

L’attività di ricerca contenuta in questa tesi si è concentrata nello sviluppo e nell’implementazione di tecniche per la co-simulazione e il co-progetto non lineare/elettromagnetico di sistemi wireless non convenzionali. Questo lavoro presenta un metodo rigoroso per considerare le interazioni tra due sistemi posti sia in condizioni di campo vicino che in condizioni di campo lontano. In sostanza, gli effetti del sistema trasmittente sono rappresentati da un generatore equivalente di Norton posto in parallelo all’antenna del sistema ricevente, calcolato per mezzo del teorema di reciprocità e del teorema di equivalenza. La correttezza del metodo è stata verificata per mezzo di simulazioni e misure, concordi tra loro. La stessa teoria, ampliata con l’introduzione degli effetti di scattering, è stata usata per valutare una condizione analoga, dove l’elemento trasmittente coincide con quello ricevente (DIE) contenuto all’interno di una struttura metallica (package). I risultati sono stati confrontati con i medesimi ottenibili tramite tecniche FEM e FDTD/FIT, che richiedono tempi di simulazione maggiori di un ordine di grandezza. Grazie ai metodi di co-simulazione non lineari/EM sopra esposti, è stato progettato e verificato un sistema di localizzazione e identificazione di oggetti taggati posti in ambiente indoor. Questo è stato ottenuto dotando il sistema di lettura, denominato RID (Remotely Identify and Detect), di funzioni di scansione angolare e della tecnica di RADAR mono-pulse. Il sistema sperimentale, creato con dispositivi low cost, opera a 2.5 GHz ed ha le dimensioni paragonabili ad un normale PDA. E’ stato sperimentata la capacità del RID di localizzare, in scenari indoor, oggetti statici e in movimento.

Effect of different management intensities on natural and human-induced carbon fluxes in a golf course in northern Italy

Turfgrasses are ubiquitous in urban landscape and their role on carbon (C) cycle is increasing important also due to the considerable footprint related to their management practices. It is crucial to understand the mechanisms driving the C assimilation potential of these terrestrial ecosystems Several approaches have been proposed to assess C dynamics: micro-meteorological methods, small-chamber enclosure system (SC), chrono-sequence approach and various models. Natural and human-induced variables influence turfgrasses C fluxes. Species composition, environmental conditions, site characteristics, former land use and agronomic management are the most important factors considered in literature driving C sequestration potential. At the same time different approaches seem to influence C budget estimates. In order to study the effect of different management intensities on turfgrass, we estimated net ecosystem exchange (NEE) through a SC approach in a hole of a golf course in the province of Verona (Italy) for one year. The SC approach presented several advantages but also limits related to the measurement frequency, timing and duration overtime, and to the methodological errors connected to the measuring system. Daily CO2 fluxes changed according to the intensity of maintenance, likely due to different inputs and disturbances affecting biogeochemical cycles, combined also to the different leaf area index (LAI). The annual cumulative NEE decreased with the increase of the intensity of management. NEE was related to the seasonality of turfgrass, following temperatures and physiological activity. Generally on the growing season CO2 fluxes towards atmosphere exceeded C sequestered. The cumulative NEE showed a system near to a steady state for C dynamics. In the final part greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions due to fossil fuel consumption for turfgrass upkeep were estimated, pinpointing that turfgrass may result a considerable C source. The C potential of trees and shrubs needs to be considered to obtain a complete budget.
